The Christmas Party

You should have seen how wonderful the Bear House looked, all decorated for the Christmas party! It looked like such a magical place, with brightly coloured decorations hanging everywhere, and lots of candles! The tables had all been pushed together in the centre of the room, and were filled with delicious pies, cakes, cookies and of course Warm Honey Tea, as well as Apple Cider.

When we got there, Elvira was dancing around the room singing Christmas carols, and Paddy had already helped himself to a large piece of Blueberry Pie! Me and my family were quick to join in the fun, and soon everybody was eating, and talking, and singing!

But I couldn’t stop thinking of Santa. The party had already started, and he wasn’t there! Maybe he wouldn’t show up at all? The thought made me really sad. I had so been looking forward to seeing him for real, that I had started to believe he actually would come to the party.
I noticed Paddy was sitting in a corner of the room, looking sad too. I walked over to him, but didn’t know what to say. Paddy said “He’s not coming, is he?”. “Well, we don’t know that. Maybe he just got delayed”, I told him. But it didn’t look like Paddy believed me. “Santa can get presents to everyone in time in one single night, why would he be late for a Christmas party?”, he asked. I didn’t really have an answer to that.

Suddenly the party didn’t feel like much fun at all. But then Elvira showed up in our corner, laughing and twirling. “What’s wrong with you two?”, she asked. “Don’t you like the party?”. I told her we were sad because Santa didn’t show up, but she just laughed at us. “That’s no reason to waste a good party, is it?” she said. “I also hope Santa comes to our party, but I’d rather have fun while I’m waiting”. We realized she did have a point, and tried to join in the fun again.
Then suddenly there was a loud knock on the door! The door opened and in came a large old bear, with a white beard and a red coat. It was Santa! He really came!

“Excuse me for being late, but I had to go back home first to get Mrs. Claus. She loves a good Christmas party!”, he said with a big jolly laugh. In came Mrs. Claus. She was just the sweetest lady! We were so glad they had both came to our party. Elvira announced it was time to dance around the Christmas tree, so Santa and Mrs Claus came with us outside. There, in the middle of the Town Square, was the big Christmas tree. The Toytown Toyband started playing Christmas songs, and we all danced around the tree for hours. We didn’t even notice how cold it was, or that the snow was falling from the sky. We had too much fun to care about that!
Santa and Mrs Claus thanked us for inviting them to the party. They said they had had a wonderful time! I hope we’ll see them again some day. Maybe next Christmas?

As I walked back home to my little house, I felt sad that Christmas was over now. But it was the best Christmas ever! One that I will always remember.

Christmas Day

This morning I woke up with a smile on my face! It’s Christmas Day! I knew Santa must have remembered to fill my stocking!

So I hurried over to the fireplace, and sure enough, my old red stocking looked much bigger than it had when I hung it up there last night. I felt just like a child again, and excitedly took it down to see what Santa had brought me this year!

I got an orange, an apple, a shiny blue cup, and best of all - a big flashlight! Just like the ones the Scotland Yard detectives use! It’s big, but will for sure come in handy when I have to patrol in the dark. Santa sure is nice to always remember us all on Christmas! Thank you Santa!

This year we decided to do something to thank Santa. It was Paddy’s idea, but Elvira right away started dancing and twirling! Which of course meant she approved of the idea! I also thought it was a fine idea! Poor old Santa hurries around to all the houses every Christmas to bring us presents, and he never gets anything in return. It just doesn’t seem fair, does it?
So Paddy decided this year we would invite Santa to our annual Christmas party. Wasn’t that a great idea?

The problem was just how do you go about inviting Santa? We didn’t have any way to contact him. Of course one of us could have stayed up very late last night, and waited for him to come, and invited him to the party then. But everyone knows you’re not allowed to be awake when Santa comes!

So we all sat down, and tried to write him a letter. Elvira said she was too nervous to hold the pen, so I should write it. Paddy also said I should write it. He insisted it was my duty, as a police officer. But of course he just said that because he hates writing. He’s hands aren’t very good at holding the pen, and he always makes a mess with the ink. When we were in school that always got him in trouble with the teacher. But I didn’t want to remind him of that. So I agree to write the letter - if Paddy and Elvira helped me.
We finally came up with this:

Dear Santa,
Thank you for always bringing us such fine gifts.
We would be honoured if you would come to our Christmas party this year. It’s held at the Bear House in Toytown at 7 pm.
From
TeddyCop, Paddy and Elvira.

Last night before going to bed I attached the letter to my stocking with a safety pin. This morning it was gone, so Santa must have found it! Isn’t that exciting? I do hope he’ll come to our party tonight. It would be so much fun to get to meet him! Can you imagine Santa Claus dancing around the Christmas tree? I’m not sure if I can. But I hope he will. After working all night, he deserves to have some fun.

After having a nice Christmas breakfast (porridge with a lot of honey), I went over to my Mama’s house. Mama Teddy was of course in the kitchen, preparing for our Christmas lunch. She always goes completely overboard at Christmas, cooking enough to feed a whole town of Teddies! So we all end up eating Christmas food for a month - which of course is just fine by me! I love Christmas food! Grandpa Teddy was sitting in his big chair, reading the news paper - as usual! He sure loves reading about what goes on in Toytown. He says it saves him the trouble of going outside and actually talk to people! Grandpa can be very grumpy, but he has a good heart!
“Come here, Little Teddy” he called to me when I came into the room. (He still calls me Little Teddy, even though I’m all grown up now, and a police officer!). “You got your picture in the newspaper!”. I thought he had gone mad, but I really was in the newspaper. They wrote a story about how I solved the mystery of the disappearing bread last week, and had a picture of me with the happy baker! It sure made me feel proud, and Grandpa looked mighty proud too!

Grandma Teddy was running back and forth from the kitchen, filling the goodie table with cookies and candy, as well as fruits and nuts. It sure looked yummy! But I learned a long time ago we’re not allowed to touch any of it until after lunch. So I just looked at it for a while.
Then there was a loud knock on the door, and in came my aunt and uncle - and all ten cousins! Things sure got loud after that, but as Mama and Grandma brought out all the Christmas food and we sat down around the table we had a very nice time. Nothing like good food and good company to make for a lovely Christmas meal!

We ate for hours, and then we played all our usual Christmas games. It was a wonderful day! As always on Christmas, time goes by very quickly, and soon it was time to go over to the Bear House for the Christmas party! This year I was looking forward to it more than ever, thinking that maybe, just maybe, Santa might be there. Wouldn’t that be a wonderful surprise for everyone?

Toytown

Jessica left a comment asking to hear more about Toytown. Of course I’ll tell you all about it!

Toytown is a small village where I’ve lived all of my life. I live in a little peach coloured house at the end of the Main Road. I only have two small rooms, and a little kitchen, but it suits me just fine. If you walk down the Main Road and on to Chestnut Street you’ll see a rather large (well, compared to most houses in Toytown!) green house. That’s where my mother, Mama Teddy lives, together with my grandparents - Grandma and Grandpa Teddy. I used to live there too, before I moved into my own house, and became the TeddyCop.

Everyone just loves my Mama! She’s so nice and friendly, and is always ready to give a stranger who’s passing by a hot meal and a place to sleep. She really loves cooking, and can usually be found in the kitchen.

My Grandma is a lot like Mama. She also likes to cook, and to bake, but is also well known for her knitting. Such a sweet lady!

Grandpa is rather grumpy, and is usually sitting in his chair in the living room, remembering old times, and complaining about things today. But if you sit down and talk to him you’ll find he is wonderful at telling stories, and is a really kind old bear.

In the middle of town, at the Town Square, you can buy pretty much anything on Market Day (which is every Wednesday). This is where we buy everything we can’t make or grow ourselves. It’s also a great place to meet people!

My best friend Paddy the Frog can usually be found there, selling fish. He loves to fish, and every Wednesday he sells his fish at the Market, so that he can buy everything he needs. He says that’s the perfect way of living! Paddy is a very loyal friend. You can trust him with any secret! He also has a great sense of humour.

My other best friend Elvira would never dream of fishing! She’s a dance mouse, and loves dancing and music, and of course pretty things! Her parents are rich, so she never has to worry about earning money. She’s the sweetest thing though, and a wonderful friend!

By the Town Square you’ll find an old red house with a sign that says “The Bear House”. That’s the Toytown pub. There you can get food and something to drink. Be sure to try their Warm Honey Tea! It’s wonderful on a cold winter day. Their Blueberry Pie is also well-known, and people travel from everywhere to get a piece!

Welcome!!

Welcome to my blog!
I'm the Teddy Cop! I'm the police officer in the little town called Toytown! I really love my job! My family is really proud of me too - not anyone would be chosen to be the police officer in Toytown!
Toytown is a wonderful little town! I've lived here my whole life. If you would like me to, I will tell you more about it next time.
Be safe and good!

// I had to admit that I'm a TeddyCop, NOT a human, and blogging is just not something I'm good at. I don't even have a computer! We don't have things like that in Toytown. It was just very difficult to try to find the time to sneak off into Big Town to use their computer, so I had to give up. I'm sorry I've been a bad blogger!

I asked The Darkest Night to help me, so from now on I'll simply write my blog entries on a regular paper, send them off to her, and she will add them here for you all to see.

So welcome to this new version of the TeddyCop blog (because I messed up the old one so bad that nothing looked like it should anymore!).
